A 2006 Merlot To Enjoy From Chateau St. Jean

From February 2010 at Blogarhythms.

Another quick wine entry from this year.  There was a question on the price because it had been mismarked by the store.  But when I went to inquire, the staff couldn’t quite get it worked out.  As a result, I paid  a bit less than the price listed here.  They kept telling me, however, that the price was the same as the Chateau St. Jean Sonoma, but I knew better.  The price below is what the store now has on this selection.  Please remember, I am not a pro at this.  So my notes are just that  – a recording of what my tastebuds and nose experienced.

Vineyard: Chateau St. Jean
Wine:  Merlot
Vintage:  2006
Appellation:  California
Price: $9.99

Notes:  Strong bouquet of blackberries and violets that translate to the palate and linger through.  Core fruit flavors add plum with spice notes.  Very easy-to-drink medium bodied red with a nice light tannic punch on the finish.
